We believe that when a person comes into our practice that they should be treated as if they were a very important guest in our home! To create this experience our core staff, who have worked together for over a decade, were selected because they share these same core values. Secondly, on a regular basis the staff has received training on customer service. We’ve traveled to Texas, brought in as "coach" a well known service expert and author, Allen Tappe, and gone through the Ritz Carlton customer service training program. We host patient focus groups to gather feedback on our performance, and meet weekly for two hours to celebrate exceptional service moments and discuss events on which we could improve. It is an ongoing process to sustain and improve our service in order to create an exceptional experience for our patients.

With regard to providing the finest dental care, you should know that Dr. Avis has a perfectionist tendency and is driven to achieve excellence. He believes that continual education is foundational to providing exceptional dentistry. He and his laboratory technician, Paul Federico, average 4 to 5 weeks of postdoctoral education each year (more than ten times what the New York State law mandates). Furthermore, both believe that their commitment to teaching is critical not only from the aspect of giving back to the profession, but also for their own professional development and therefore the finest care for their patients.

To this end, the entire Avis team is encouraged and supported in furthering their own dental educational and sharing their experiences with our patients and the greater community.

Finally, we believe in continually reinvesting to provide our patients with a beautiful, clean office, meticulous attention to standards of sterilization, and the best technology! Our philosophy of practice is rather simple but the effort we make to bring it to life is substantial!

At your first visit, Dr. Avis will listen and find out what are your main concerns or chief complaints. He then will proceed by doing an examination of the teeth, gums and jaw. Most often a complete set of x-rays are taken at this visit.

If treatment is indicated, a more detailed analysis is made. This includes models (impressions) of the teeth and photographs. The diagnostic models are then mounted on a device called an articulator so the jaw position and function can be analyzed.

This is a conference with the patient and all interested parties to review the objectives of treatment. At times Dr. Avis will use digital pictures to help the patient understand his/her treatment. Dr. Avis will answer all your questions and concerns so that you can make an educated decision about your treatment.

Dr. Avis will always inform you of any fees before he performs treatment. Dee, our office manager of 25 years, will comfortably discuss your payment options and personalize your financial arrangements. Once a plan is agreed upon, we expect and appreciate prompt payment for services rendered. This helps decrease administrative work, and therefore helps to control our fees.

If you have an emergency please call the office. If you need to reach Dr. Avis when the office is closed please follow the instructions on the answering machine and page Dr. Avis. If Dr. Avis is away there is always a covering doctor.

Dr. Victor is a native Staten Islander received his B.S. degree from Duke University and his D.D.S. from Georgetown University. After his dental graduation in 1987, Dr. Avis completed a 1 year post doctoral residency at Staten Island hospital. Since then Dr. Avis has averaged 4 to 5 weeks of continuing education per year. His emphasis of study has been in the restoration of aesthetic and functional health to people with compromised or missing teeth. Dr. Avis has specialized training in prosthetics, aesthetics, implantology and TMJ dysfunction. An associate fellow in The American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. Avis also holds membership in several distinctive societies. The American Equilibration Society, The R.V. Tucker Study Club, The American Academy of Gold Foil Operators and the L.D. Pankey Institute Alumni. Dr. Avis is a sought after lecturer on the topics of treatment planning complex restorative dentistry, occlusion and implantology. In 1998 Dr. Victor co-founded The Center For Predictable Restorative Dentistry. The Center provides post-doctoral training to general dentists in the pursuit of advanced knowledge in prosthetic and aesthetic dentistry. The Center's curriculum has earned approval by The Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Victors' commitment to his own education as well as to teaching others assures his patients of cutting edge knowledge and service.

Outside the office, Dr. Avis' primary love is spending time with his wife Kimberly and three daughters, Sydney, Samantha, and Morgan. In addition, the doctor enjoys exercise and sports, and holds three titles of the Staten Island Amateur Golf Championship. Dr. Avis is also an avid reader of personal development books and loves taking continuing dental education courses.
